Vacuum Cleaner Reviews - Hoover Vacuum Cleaners UH50000

The Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel Self-Propelled Bagged Upright UH50000 is a machine that celebrates the history of Hoover vacuum cleaners, which date back to 1909. As an anniversary edition, this Hoover model includes some very useful features usually found on higher-end vacuum cleaners. Priced at around 0 dollars, this Hoover vacuum cleaner is priced really well, especially since it includes a 3-year warranty.

This Hoover Anniversary Vacuum Cleaner includes the patented WindTunnel Technology that uses 3 separate air channels to suction up debris. There is a Custom Cleaning Control that allows the operator to clean hard floors as well as carpeting. This self-propelled Hoover vacuum makes it really easy to push back and forth across heavily carpeted areas and makes this machine accessible to people who have a harder time with heavier vacuum cleaners. This model comes with ample power generated by a single large vacuum motor. Higher priced models utilize two vacuum motors, but the Hoover UH50000 makes up for this by utilizing a larger single motor system.

Hoover Windtunnel

Some of the features included on this Hoover model are the 31' power cord, 5 position height adjustment and a 8' stretch hose. Other features include a HEPA Media Bag that traps 99.9% of allergens, including many common pollens, dust mites and pet dander. This is particularly nice for people who suffer from allergies and for cleaning those environments where good filtration is essential for air quality. A headlight makes it possible for the operator to see larger objects that shouldn't be vacuumed on the floor before they are sucked into the machine. Headlights on vacuums save a lot of jewelry from being lost in the depths of the bag and are of course very helpful when vacuuming under furniture or in darkened areas.

The Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel Self-Propelled Bagged Upright UH50000 is really effective on pet hair, thanks to the pet hair tool that has its own rotating brush. The pet hair tool is great on any area (pet hair or not) that is hard to reach with the normal upright unit. This nifty tool makes cleaning stairs really easy and lampshades that accumulate a lot of fine dust come out looking like brand-new. This is also a great tool for cleaning furniture, even those with densely-piled fabric.

Another thing that is desirable about this Hoover vacuum is the fact that it is still recognizable as a vacuum cleaner. Many vacuum cleaners available today tend to end up looking more like something out of a science-fiction movie with body units that look fierce and intimidating, but don't contribute to actual cleaning. While it is a matter of personal taste to desire such an elaborate exterior, many consumers would probably prefer better suction and superior cleaning ability over aestehetics when it comes to a vacuum cleaner.

The Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel Self-Propelled Bagged Upright UH50000 is a good value for the money. Appealing to pet owners and allergy sufferers as well as those who desire a self-propelled unit, this Hoover vacuum cleaner is a pleaser. A nice metallic silver color and overall good design make this a visually appealing machine with out being over-the-top as some of today's vacuums have become. The 3-year warranty is wonderful and makes Hoover model an excellent purchase for the price.

Vacuum Cleaner Reviews - Hoover Vacuum Cleaners - UH30010COM

The Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister UH30010COM is a vacuum designed for versatility. It includes a portable canister unit that allows the operator to clean a variety of areas, from top to bottom. Tests concluded that this Hoover vacuum is capable of pulling more dirt out of carpeting than other machines. This unit also comes with Hoover's best 6-year limited warranty.

This Hoover vacuum cleaner is a nice, lightweight model weighing under 12 lbs. and includes Hoover's Patented WindTunnel Technology that sucks debris better and faster than other models. Higher priced models utilize two vacuum motors, but the Hoover UH30010COM makes up for this by utilizing a larger single motor system.

Hoover Windtunnel

The bag on this Hoover vacuum is quite generous in size and is made with HEPA media and traps almost 100% of allergens from returning to the air. The HEPA filtration bag has the ability to filter out plant pollen, dust mites and dander down to 0.3 microns. This bag assures better air quality than regular allergen paper bags. The self-sealing bag stops dust puffs from entering back into a clean room.

There are features on this make of Hoover vacuum that make the job of vacuuming much easier. For starters, the power button is located directly on the handle where it is easily reached rather than needing to reach around to the front of the machine. There is a bag indicator light that takes the guesswork out of when to change the bag. A tool bracket makes it possible to have tools on-board, keeping them accessible at all times. The tools included with this machine include a crevice tool, floor brush and dusting brush. A telescoping extension wand allows the user to reach up high or down low and is nice for cleaning drapes or upholstery. A headlight on the upright illuminates dirt and debris located under furniture and along baseboards.

The canister portion of the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister UH30010COM comes with a carrying strap that increases its mobility. Able to be toted up and down stairs and useful in areas that are tight quarters, this canister can go anywhere. The handle at the top of the canister makes it easy to pick up and carry while in operation and the unit is light enough to carry easily. The canister has impressive suction and is a terrific little unit in its own right, although the hose is a little on the short side at less than 5 feet, so reach is somewhat limited. The canister vacuum is also bit loud.

Priced below 0 dollars, this Hoover model is a great value considering it is like getting two vacuums for the price of one. There are only a few issues with the Hoover Platinum Lightweight, most of them not too serious. The first issue is the fact that this unit does not come with brush roller shut off capability. Second, the handle on the upright feels very light and a bit flimsy although the obviously lighter design does contribute to the lighter weight of the vacuum.

Overall, the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister UH30010COM is a really nice vacuum cleaner. Lightweight and adaptable, and sporting two machines for the price, it is ideal for a variety of applications. The fact that Hoover also includes its best 6-year warranty makes this a machine worth the money.

Suction Problem - Troubleshooting on Vacuum Cleaners

The main purpose of a vacuum cleaner is to agitate fibers in a carpet and suck up any debris. There are six different reasons a vacuum can lose suction, a plugged vacuum hose, bad motor, full vacuum bag, or cracked or damage hoses. Purchasing a vacuum cleaner can be a costly expense while repairing the suction on the unit can be virtually free. Most suction loss problems on a vacuum can be easily fixed or remedied with common house hold tools and very little technical expertise.

If your vacuum losses suction, the first and easiest solution is to check the bag. If the vacuum cleaner bag is full suction will be greatly reduced and the unit will become ineffective. A vacuum cleaner works by passing air through the bag fibers leaving dirt and debris behind inside the bag. If the refuse bag becomes full, airflow is restricted, limiting the amount of air passing through the vacuum bag resulting in loss of suction. When replacing the vacuum bag always consult your owners manual to insure that the vacuum bag seals with the vacuum inlet hose. If your vacuum cleaner bag is not tightly sealed to the vacuum inlet hose you will decrease the air flow through the bag resulting in loss of suction.

Hoover Windtunnel

The second and sometimes most common reason for loss of suction on a vacuum is a plugged vacuum hose. If the hose becomes plugged, air flow will become restricted. To unplug a vacuum hose detach it from the machine and inspect the inside. If there is a restriction in the hose, remove it with your fingers and replace the hose onto the unit. If the hose is long and the debris is hard to get too, a broom handle or other long object can be passed through the hose to dislodge the debris. Most vacuum cleaners contain more that one suction hose, so make sure to check each one by process of elimination. Another area that can become easily plugged on a vacuum cleaner is under the lower base of the unit by the roller brush. Large debris can get caught in this area and restrict air flow to the hose.

If your vacuum refuse bag is not full and the suction hoses are not plugged the next thing to check is the condition of the hoses. Many hoses are made from plastic which can easily tear or crack. If your vacuum cleaner shows signs of wear or are cracked they need to be replaced. Even the smallest hole in a vacuum hose can leak enough air to greatly diminish the suction potential of your unit. Replace your vacuum cleaner parts with OEM parts from the original manufacturer to ensure the tightest fit.

Most vacuum cleaners contain filters. Filters are used as a last line of defense to remove dust and smaller debris particles before the air is recycled back into the environment. If vacuum cleaner filters become dirty or plugged they also can decrease the amount of air traveling through the unit. Some filters can be easily rinsed with water whereas others need to be replaced. It is important to check your owners manual before rinsing a vacuum filter.

The last and probably least common problem for a vacuum cleaner to loose suction is a bad or failing vacuum motor. Over time vacuum motors lose power due to worn carbon brushes or long term damage. A vacuum cleaners worst enemy is moisture. If water or moisture is sucked into the vacuum motor it will greatly diminish the amount of suction the unit has. Replacing a vac motor can be a costly and time consuming ordeal. In some cases, replacing a vacuum motor can outweigh the cost of buying a new vacuum. Vacuum suction is measured in water lift which can easily be measured by using a water lift gauge. If the water lift measured in inches, falls below half the original water lift specifications for the unit, it is time to replace your motor. Most vacuum cleaner repair shops carry this type of equipment and can easily tell you if it is time for a new vac motor.

What You Should Know About HEPA Filter Vacuum Cleaners

HEPA Filter Vacuum Cleaners can go a long way toward helping to get your air clean in your home. If there is someone in the home with allergies or respiratory issues these vacuums can help. They make our air cleaner and help trap harmful particles. This is what HEPA filter vacuum cleaners can do.

These filters were originally developed in the US during the second World War. As part of atomic bomb testing the filters were created. They were designed to keep out radio active dust contaminants. They have been quite effective for asbestos and lead cleaning.

Hoover Windtunnel

HEPA filter vacuum cleaners is an acronym for High Efficiency Particulate Air. The filters are used in hospitals, pharmaceutical and aerospace companies. They are now available for home air filters and filters in hepa filter vacuum cleaners. When dust and dirt is vacuumed in a home some portion of it is released back into the air by changing the bag or dumping the canister, or through the housing of the unit.

These filters are designed to be able to eliminate 99.97 percent of the air particles. Those with allergies greatly benefit from their use. The vacuum using this filter can clean microscopic germs and dust as small as 0.3 microns of particles in the air. The packaging will let you know just how effective the filter is in the unit you choose.

The filter is made of tiny glass fibers woven into a compressed paper filter. The weave creates tiny pores that trap particles that are microscopic. These particles remain stuck in these pores. They can trap molds, viruses and spores. They can clean the air of allergens, pet dander, pollen, dust, dust mites and smoke. There are attachments that allow you to clean more than just the carpets. Drapes, furniture, ceiling fans, etc. Can all be cleaned. Normal vacuum cleaners will just release all these back into the air.

You will see different terms for the HEPA filter vacuum cleaners. The true HEPA, sealed HEPA, Near HEPA and ULPA. The true HEPA filter vacuum cleaners will have the filter itself in an airtight area of the vacuum. This keeps the dust from seeping out the gaps in the body of the vacuum. Sealed HEPA means the vacuum system is sealed in a way that all air that is sucked into the vacuum goes through the filter.

Near HEPA means the filter does not quite meet the standards for HEPA filtration but is near it. These cost a lot less the true HEPA filter. If you don't need that high a degree of filtration you may wish to consider it. ULPA stands for ultra high efficiency particulate air. This is will clean the air of 99.99 percent of. 12 micron particulates. This filter is not readily available for home use.

These filters are quite powerful. The vacuum must be made to work with them. Because of the amount of particles it is able to trap it also slows down the air that moves through it. It will lose some of its suction power if the vacuum itself is not powerful enough. This of course defeats the purpose of the vacuum which is to clean the dirt and dust from your home.

To get the most out of your choice of vacuum make sure that where the filter is mounted is sealed. The body itself where the filter is housed should also be sealed. If it isn't then the dust that is vacuumed will be released back into the air. The filter should be changed regularly to maintain efficiency. Determine how clean you want or need the air in your home and you will know which of the HEPA filter vacuum cleaners is best for you and your family.

What You Should Know About HEPA Filter Vacuum Cleaners

Vacuum Cleaners - Is Bagged Or Bagless Better For You?

Originally all vacuum cleaners were bagless. All vacuums simply used a cloth bag to contain the dust and dirt. They leaked dust and odors, but they were much better than having nothing at all. Then paper bags were introduced to dramatically cut down on the dust. The paper bags were a big improvement because they cut down on the odors stored in the cloth outer bag, and the filth and dirt could be thrown away without a dust cloud forming above the vacuum cleaner.

About 1985 the bagless vacuum became popular. Originally, bagless vacuums had a distinct advantage over bagged vacuum cleaners. The HEPA filter that all bagless vacuums have stops almost all the dust and odors from leaking out the vacuum exhaust. The good news was that the HEPA filters stopped dust from spewing out. The bad news is that the clogged up rapidly. They clogged faster if the air had high humidity or if you were picking up pet hair. The pet dander sticks to the filter and restricts air flow. The slowing air flow is also what cooled the motor. The motors in bagless vacuums tend not to last as long as bagged vacuums because of this restricted airflow to the motor in bagless vacuums.

Hoover Windtunnel

We have a retail store selling vacuums and filters in Wooster Ohio. The two main reasons people ask us about bagless vacuum cleaners is: 1) They want to save money on bags, or 2) They want less dust. Bagless vacuums need a HEPA filter to stop the dirt. These filters are very effective. They also need to be changed at least once a year (more often if you have small children or pets) and, they aren't cheap, - each. It is impossible to spend as much for paper bags. High filtration paper bags may cost you a dollar or two each. You will spend less money on the bags than for the bagless filters, even if you change the bags frequently.

Less dust? Do you have trash cans at home? Do you use trash can liners? Why? Because it's far more sanitary when you throw out the liner instead of dumping the can with all the dust being thrown into the air. Most high end vacuums now use micron filtration bags along with a HEPA filter at the exhaust of the vacuum cleaner. The micron filtration bags offer excellent filtration, and they don't clog up and restrict airflow like the HEPA filters in bagless vacuums. The HEPA filter at the exhaust takes much longer to get dirty because the dirt is trapped in the high filtration paper liner.

Less expensive vacuum cleaners are almost all bagless. The profit is in the filters, not the disposable vacuums. The higher end vacuums almost all use high filtration inner bags.

If you have pets, the pet dander is what sticks to the bagless HEPA filters. We also recommend to pet owners that they use a vacuum cleaner with a charcoal filter to trap and neutralize the pet odors. Also, natural fiber brushes on your vacuum cleaner's roller brush will not trap the pet hair in the roller.
